Original era photography. A large format photograph measuring roughly 4 x 8 inches, displaying a knees-up view of Brevet Brigadier General John Ricker Hurd US Army.General Hurd enlisted in the army in 1861 as a Captain of the 2nd Kentucky Infantry, was captured early in the war, rejoining his regiment later that same year, and was mustered out with the regiment in 1864.He mustered into the 173rd Ohio as Colonel in September 1864, and was mustered out in June 1865.Breveted Brigadier General for gallantry in March 1865 for, Shiloh, Stones River and Chickamauga and meritorious service. He died in 1917 and is buried in Los Angeles.
