Original era manufacture. A pattern of sword adopted during the Civil War and used in later years by foot officers until 1902.32 inch polished steel blade with etched panels on each side of the blade, with light scattered staining from age, no corrosion pitting. New York retailers name on the reverse ricasso.Nicely gilded brass folding guard and pommel with a fish skin wrapped grip, bound with twisted brass wire. The steel scabbard is fairly dent free, with brass fittings.
