Original period manufacture. Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States membership badge, 14 karet gold medal numbered on the suspension loop, 2132, as worn by Captain George Brown Eckert. He enlisted in 1861 as a Musician in Company A, 25th US Infantry, transfering to the 3rd US Infantry where he became a 2nd Lieutenant, promoted to Captain, he resigned his commission in 1864. Born in 1840, he died in 1899 and is buried in Reading Pennsylvania. Of note regarding the medal, the gold and enamel discs are both reverse pattern discs as normally seen on the Mollus medal. I have no explanation for this, no damage or repairs are noted, but there it is.
