Original era manufacture. Clear sepia tone image of the Captain and crew of the US Navy Collier USS Brutus taken in San Diego in 1921. Frame measures 11x26 inches and appears to be recently done. The English built USS Brutus was built in 1894 and joined the US Navy in 1898. Perhaps her most notable single incident in her long career occured in 1905-1906 when she and two other ships towed the huge floating drydock USS Dewey from Chesapeake Bay to Manila PI. The voyage began in December 1905, transitting the Suez Canal and arrived at Luzon PI in July of 1906. Her name was struck from the Navy Register in 1922 and sold for scrap.
