Original era manufacture. Based on the post 1872 pattern, US Navy Officers M1852 sword but with the letters U.S.C.G. cast into the guard. The chromed steel blade measures 32 inches in length and is in very clean condition, no issues to report. Thereare etched panels on each side of the blade, with the obverse displaying a nice presentation inscription; "Presented by Crew of C.G.106, to A.?. Marlowe Boatswain U.S.C.G. May 1st 1925"On the reverse ricasso is the retailers name, M.C.LILLEY & Co. Columbus Ohio.Ornate gilded brass guard and pommel with a fish skin grip bound with triple strand wire. Metal bodied, leather covered scabbard with gilded brass fittings. There is some seam separation and minor scuffing to the surface of the leather, however the name provides a good basis for further research.
