Original era manufacture. This magnificent piece of pre-WWI sweetheart jewelry is British made, showing British proof marks above the sterling mark on the reverse. At the top is the retailers name of H&H Chandler & Sons of Charlestown Massachusetts. Horizontal mounting pin and clasp. The obverse is a blue enamel filled oval upon which is mounted the Eagle, Globe and Anchor of the United States Marines Corps. The great pity is that the top of the anchor is missing, it likely caught on something during wear and broke off. This could be repaired using another EGA as a donor. No enamel damage to the oval, wear to the gilt wash, comes with its original maker marked case. Badge measures 2 1/8 inches in width. It's the nicest example of Marine Corps sweetheart jewelry we have ever offered.
