Original period manufacture. A near new condition regulation US Navy Officers sword, made by the Japan Sword Company and imported by Hillborn-Hamburger of New Jersey.Flawless 32 inch chromed steel blade running straight and true, etched panels on each side of the blade with area reserved for the owners name to be engraved. Gilded brass guard and pommel, with a shagreen grip which is bound with an ornate binding, made to appear as triple strand twisted wire.Leather covered, metal bodied scabbard with beautifully gilded metal fittings. The sword is a lovely example, showing minimal handling and wear. Accompanying the sword at the time of our purchase, is a hand written note detailing the service of Captain Andrew Lawrence Garcia. Korean War/Vietnam War. Served on USS Missouri in Korea, USS Okinawa in Vietnam. Retired Chief of Staff Naval District Houston. Joined Navy at 17 years, commissioned after college. DOB: 3/7/1931. Comes with a Hillborn-Hamburger marked storage case.
