Original era publication. Interesting lot we purchased from the brother of the man depicted making his first jump at the Ft.Benning Airborne School in 1948. All five of the photos have an inscription on the reverse giving his name and some details regarding the event. In addition two menus from the Army Transport USS George Washington are included, one breakfast, one dinner, both are dated 1946. The George Washington was built in 1908 and sailed under the flag of the North German Lloyd Line until taken over by the United States in April of 1917. On the 14th of April 1912, while passing south of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, she spied a large iceberg. She radioed a warning to other ships in the area which included the ill-fated Titanic. Coincidentally, the menus are dated April 11 and April 12. Wierd huh.
