Original period manufacture.A bronze medallionstruckto honorthededication of the Navajo Code Talkermonument in downtown Phoenix in 1989.Notables inattendance at this event, included the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Governor Rose Mofford of Arizona, and many Navajo CodeTalker'sand their families.I believe onlythe official attendees received one of these artist marked medallions. The name of the artist who created the monument, Doug Hyde,is found on the lower edge of the front of the medal. The medal itself is a65 mm bronze disc, bearing the likeness of a Navajo flute player at center. The medal issuspended from a red/gold neck ribbon, with an inscription on the reverse. The accompanying program gives details of thededication and a list of the Navajo veterans in attendance.Purchased from the estate of a USMC NCO who attended the dedication.
