Original era manufacture. A cold war era, German made, regulation USMC NCO sword. This model sword is based on the Civil War era 1850 Foot Officers sword, but using a different suspension system for carry.Stainless steel, triple etched blade measuring 30 inches in length, no issues to report, bright and clean, running straight and true. On the obverse ricasso is a six-pointed star with brass "proved" disc, marked stainless below. The reverse ricasso displays the importer, or retailers name, Hillborn-Hamburger of New York, and very faintly below that, made in Solingen. Gilded brass guard and pommel, leather bumper at the base of the blade, leather wrapped grip bound with single strand wire. Heavy steel scabbard which is covered in a fine black leather showing no issues, with a brass drag and scabbard throat. Overall the sword exhibits no issues to report, other than some staining to the brass fittings from age and storage. The production number 30 can be seen on many of the fittings, indicating care was taken during assembly. Excellent quality sword.
