Original era photography. US pre Civil War 1/6 plate Daguerreotype of identified brother and sister housed in a half case with original seals. Emily (Emma) Clarissa Cook and her brother, George Palmer Cook Jr. Grand Aunt and Uncle of Clarice MacMurray, 2nd wife of Edwin Northup. A very clear and charming image of two beautiful children. After a quick peek on Ancestry, I find that the pair were the children of George and Lois Cook of Washington County New York. George was born in 1840, passing in 1913, while his younger sister Emily Cook, being born in 1844. George is quite possibly a veteran of Company E, 169th New York Infantry, 1862-1865.
