Original era manufacture. This is one of the several pattern issue cups that the Army used in trials prior to the adoption of the M1910 combined canteen & cup set.All aluminum construction with a small handle held in place with three aluminum rivets. Between the cup body and handle are thin red rubber gaskets to act as insulation for the fingers. The slot in the handle below the US proof, was designed for the tines of the issue fork to be inserted to make it easier for the cup to be placed near, or over a cooking fire. The cup shows normal age and use but no damage. Typically these are RIA 1907 marked on the handle body below the fork slot, this one is as well, however the markings are blurred from age and use.
