Original era manufacture. Scarce, early production 1910 pattern canteen, featuring an aluminum body without side seams, unmarked, with an aluminum wire collar holding the machined aluminum cap chain. Green canvas canteen body with rimless eagle securing straps, and stenciled unit markings for Company I, 28th Infantry.  The canteen retains it's cap cork (cracked) with minor surface denting to the body.  The cover displays strong colors and clear markings with typical staining from service use. The 28th formed part of the US 1st Infantry Division during WWI.
