Original era manufacture. Rimless Eagle Snap closure button, green canvas cover stamped Mills 1912, with a clear US stencil on front. The female portion of the snap closure shows a patent date of 1905. There is an old repair on the left rear edge of the cover. The canteen is the is a very early pattern with a seamless body and early style cap. It is unmarked as is proper for this style. Early manufacture 1910 pattern aluminum cup which is also unmarked. The base of the canteen displays the following1st G MO, F.J. Ecker. A scarce early issue canteen set.
