Original era manufacture. A very clean example of an early 1910 shovel cover in a green hued canvas, with RIA 1914 markings on the inside of the cover. Brass 1910 pattern belt hook on the reverse. Stenciled on the front of the cover are the numbers 24 over crossed rifles, over G. Below is the standard U.S. stencil with the individual solider number 185 below. The 24th Infantry regiment was one of two all black Infantry regiments in the army, the other being the 25th. In addition, two all black Cavalry regiments existed the 9th and 10th.
