Original period manufacture. Dark blue wool top with a red and blue wool cap band. Black patent leather visor with a bound edge, matching adjustable chinstrap, which is secured with rimless eagle buttons. Securely sewn dark brown leather sweatband, with a black cotton lining material. Gilded brass crossed cannon device on the front, denoting battery F, 4th US Artillery. Size about a 6 3/4, no moth issues to mention.
