Original era manufacture. Of a pattern introduced in 1902 and still regulation for the US Army today, that's 110 years of service use. This particular example displays the Horstmann logo on the reverse ricasso and the officers name on the blade, giving excellent research information. The blade is quite clean, etched floral panels on each side, with a slight bend to the left about 6 inches from the point. Chrome or nickel finished scabbard with some small areas of age darkening and bubbling. Ebony wood grip with no damage, nickel finished basket guard and pommel.
