Original era manufacture. Issued to Hospital Troops, and some sources state Engineers as well, for clearing brush and general use.The blade has a dark steel patina finish, but no real corrosion issues, there are a few very small nicks in the edge.Sound wooden grip displaying minor bumpsand dents, but no cracks or chips. Brass pommel cap and an S-shaped grip.Brown leather scabbard which is maker marked and dated Rock Island Arsenal 1917. The stitching is sound with no breaks, surface scuffing to the leather, and some light surface corrosion and pitting to the Krag-style hanger. Not a mint example by any means but quite presentable as is.
