Original era manufacture. Faded green colored canvas body with rimless eagle snap button closures. The body displays considerable service use and wear; with collector reinforcement patches placed under the securing buttons. Stenciled U.S. and crossed rifles on the body of the cover. Both of the snaps retain most of their original finish, one has pulled away and resides inside the canteen for safe keeping. On the reverse of the cover, is a clever soldier modified extra snaphook attachment.Aluminum WWI canteen, maker marked ACA 1918; unmarked aluminum WWI cup, which has the owners initials, W.C.P. carved into one side, and on the other, Co. D 162. During WWI, the 162nd Infantry Regiment served with the 41st Infantry Division, arriving in France in late 1917. The 41st Division was relegated to the role of a replacement division; with most of it's units never seeing service intact. However the individual soldiers did.
