Original period manufacture. Pre WWII DI, pinback, with an enameled obverse and NS Meyer marked reverse. Nice quality DI. Formed as the 3rd Observation Group in 1919, and became the 6th Bombardment Group in 1937, 6th Bombardment Group (Medium) in 1939, 6th Bombardment Group (Heavy) in 1940. Disbanded in 1943 and reformed as the 6th Bombardment Group (Very Heavy) in 1944. They served in the Pacific Theater during WWII, earning two Distinguished Unit Citations during the bombing missions over Japan.
