Original era manufacture. A regulation US Army officers sword, of a pattern adopted in 1902, and still in service today. The chrome finished blade measures 32 inches in length, with an etched design on each side. The blade runs straight and true, no corrosion issues, with some shallow nicks in the cutting edge.On the reverse ricasso the Defender trade mark can be seen, and on the obverse a brass disc within a six pointed star, displaying the word proved, and a fleur-de-lis emblem. This trademark is attributed to the Dublin firm of Clowes & Woodward.Chromed alloy three branch guard, with a black composition material grip. Wrapped around the grip is an original brown leather swordknot. Chromed steel scabbard with two suspension rings, unusual in that the rings are set into the body of the scabbard, rather than being held in place by the usual bands. Minor denting along it's length, nothing severe.Purchased from the family of a career US Army officer, who was commissioned in 1939. He later earned two Silver Stars during WWII, and participated in the Normandy Invasion on June 6th 1944. Further details will be provided to the purchaser.
