Original era manufacture. A complete, prewar example, circa 1936. Identified in the book "US Chemical and Biological Defense Respirators" by Christopher T. Carey, page 97. It is correct with the early gray color facemask and US U stencil on the top of the mask. The rubber exhalation valve is intact and very pliable, as is the green rubber air hose. The filter is in place, no rust issues, and the demisting canister is there.The canvas cover shows some fading to the original stenciling, no holes or tears, with the names of two soldiers, one on the strap, the other on the body of the satchel.Great for a early WWII display. Normal age and wear, very sound.
