Original era manufacture. William McKinley, 25th President of the United States, he was shot on the 6th of September 1901, dying 8 days later. He enlisted as a private soldier during the Civil War in the 23rd Ohio Infantry. Ironically Rutherford B. Hayes served as a Major in that regiment, Hayes would later become the 19th President of the United States. McKinley served with distinction during the war and was discharged with the rank of brevet Major. The ceramic plate was produced by the Knowles-Taylor-Knowles company of East Liverpool Ohio, McKinley's home state. It measures 8 inches in width and is damage free. It has a vintage wire plate hanging apparatus on the reverse.
