Original era manufacture. US Navy Officers sword with etched blade and an etched presentation, "Presented to Pay Clerk, George W Moores USN, July 1, 1926 by Chief Petty Officers of the U.S.S. Bridge". Chrome finish steel blade measuring 28 inches in length with no issues. Retailer marked on the reverse ricasso "Ralph's Inc, Brooklyn NY" sounds like a good place to get a great tattoo as well. Patina finish to the brass guard and pommel, with a pre-1941 style pommel eagle looking to it's left. Fish skin wrapped grip bound with single strand wire. Black leather bodied scabbard in fair/poor condition, as the drag is missing. However the remaining fittings are of a nice quality, with extra engraving, showing a fouled anchor on the throat. Checking in with Ancestry, George W. (William) Moores shows up from 1926-1949, while serving as Pay Clerk, or Chief Pay Clerk on the following ships; USS Wyoming, Pensacola, Canopus, Seattle. Good potential for further research.
