Original era photography. A large format, card mounted photograph of one of the Messhalls at Fort Ethan Allen Vermont. Excellent detail of the hall decorated for the Christmas season. Many examples of the wooden stools used during the era, with patriotic bunting and evergreen boughs in evidence. On the reverse of the photo is a period inkstamp, "J.S. Illingworth 3 Cav. Fort Ethan Allen Vt. USA.Fort Ethan Allen was established in 1892, with units of the 3rd US Cavalry being assigned there in 1894. It was used as an artillery and cavalry training post for many years. The card mount measures 12 x 10 inches, the image itself 8 x 6 inches.
