Original era manufacture. A sound old khaki woven canvas cartridge belt with loops for 60 cartridges, manufactured by Spalding under a US contract in 1898. See page 330-331, American Military and Naval Belts 1812-1902, by R. Stephen Dorsey, for a more complete description. Brass sabre chape and leather suspension loop which was affixed, post production, by Rock Island Arsenal. Originally produced with a simple brass C-loop securing buckle, this one has had a replica (my opinion) cast brass 1886 Whitmore US plate. It looks fancy but is not correct.Overall condition is near new, as most of these seem to be.
