Original era manufacture. A black leather covered handbook with gilt lettering published in 1895. Clothing entries date from 1895-1897 all issued to a soldier named John McDonough, serving in troop A, 6th Regiment Cavalry. While the handwritten entries are legible, for some reason the personal information pages were glued together 76 & 77, and 78 & 79. There might be some hope of opening up 78 & 79 perhaps with steam. Of special note, on the back page is written the serial numbers for his carbine and pistol. Inside the personal papers compartment are two accounts regarding a combat action which occurred August 1st 1900 near Tientsin China. One account is typed, the other handwritten. Good detail with the commanding officer identified. The right edge of the storage pocket is torn.
