Original era manufacture. Gilded brass insignia with a screwpost reverse. The 24th & 25th Infantry Regiments and 9th & 10th Cavalry Regiments were segregated units comprised of Negro soldiers and Caucasian officers. Stationed in the West they earned the famous nickname "Buffalo Soldiers".
