Original era manufacture. Smaller pattern haversack than the later 1898 model, these were the ones worn during the War. Light tan canvas with original stenciling on its flap. Faint Waterveliet Arsenal marks on its interior. The haversack shows considerable wear and use including a neat soldier-repair to one of the suspension loops. It still is quite sound for display. Pliable original shoulder strap.
