Original era manufacture. A regulation hat of dark blue wool, with a 74th Infantry Company G crossed rifle insignia at the front of the cap.The blue wool top is in sound condition, I saw only four pin-hole size mothbites, one on the top, the other three on the back of the hat. Black leather adjustable chinstrap with buckle, secured by two General Service buttons. Small spot of staining on the upper left edge of the top. Bound leather visor which is securely stitched to the body of the hat, black cloth lining and a simple brown leather sweatband. Maker marked on the inside of the sweatband W.F.PIPPEY  NY and dated 1900.
