Original era photography. A terrific SAW era image on a gray cardboard backing. The image measures 7 x 4 inches, and the mount 10 x 6 inches.Portrayed is a Spanish-American War, Philippine Insurrection Era soldier, standing next to his fully equipped, four-legged companion. The soldier wears the issue campaign hat, with the dark blue wool issue shirt, leather guantlets, tan looped canvas ammunition belt, khaki cotton trousers with leather reinforced leggings. If you look closely you can see the butt of his holstered pistol on his right hip.His loyal horse is not to be outdone, being fitted with an issue McClellan saddle with hooded stirrups; to which is attached a US M1860 saber. Something has attracted the horse's attention, as he is looking directly at the photographer. Behind the duo, is a tropical palm tree, indicating perhaps that the image was taken overseas, perhaps Cuba or the Philippines.
