Original era manufacture. Tinned steel, two piece meatcan of a circular design, a pattern of which little is known. The handle is US stamped on the end, but has broken at its hinge, and the finger loop has pulled away. The handle can still be snapped into place in the closed position for display, but you will drop your beans in the campfire if you try to cook with it.Bannerman had these for sale in his 1925 sales catalog, identified as US Army late pattern mess pans, 8.5 inches, price...fifty cents.
