Original period manufacture. Dark blue wool bodied cap with a black leather visor and adjustable chinstrap. Indian War pattern rimless eagle button on each side. Brown leather sweatband is securely sewn to the body of the hat, black cotton lining. Stamped on the underside of the sweatband is an oval stamp, US, QMD, with a makers name and what appears to be a Philadelphia address and date of 1895. No moth issues to speak of, there is a tear in the chinstrap as shown. Attached to the front is an 1896 pattern Infantry hat insignia, 13th Regiment, Company A.
