Original era manufacture. Tan cotton drill covered cork helmet with a removable white painted leather chinstrap. Paper size tag states 6 7/8's, paper tag in the crown says Patented May 2nd 1899. Overall appears not to have ever been issued, minor storage and handling wear only, stain on the right-front crown as shown. There was a break in the painted leather chinstrap on the left side, this has been repaired by backing the break with a small piece of leather and glue.
