Original era manufacture. A very clean example of the last dark blue wool forage cap adopted for the US Army.Blue wool top with a black mohair cap band, and a nicely embroidered officers pattern gold wire eagle, stitched directly into the body of the hat.Simple twisted gold wire chincord secured by two cuff size general service buttons.Black patent leather visor with matching edge binding in good repair and securely stitched to the body of the hat. Intact brown leather sweatband, again securely stitched in place, with a size tag showing 7 1/4. Black silk lining in good repair with no fraying or tears. The hat is very clean, not crushed or broken, and amazingly for its age, no moth damage.
