Original era manufacture. A recent purchase from the estate of a local collector, is this interesting grouping of a young soldier's Purple Heart & documents, awarded during his service during the Vietnam War. The lot includes an official 1st Air Cavalry Division folder containing his Purple Heart certificate for wounds received in action, 17 January 1969 in the Republic of Vietnam. Telegrams home advising his family of his condition, 1968 platoon graduation photo and a post WWII manufactured Purple Heart with a WWII issue case. Engraved on the reverse of the medal is the date of his wounding, 1-17-69. Normal age and wear, the hinge of the plastic covered folder is partially torn through.
