Original period manufacture. Classic Gerber Fighting Knife, with the serial number 014659 on the blade ricasso. An online source states this number falls into the range of knives produced in 1970.The blade is clean, with age spotting to the surface but no corrosion issues, the edges have been lightly service sharpened and the point is undamaged. Clear makers markings with serial number.All metal guard and handle with original "cat's tongue" painted finish, showing minor wear in spots.Original Gerber marked leather sheath with a 1910 pattern belt hook at the top. The lower portion of the sheath wear the leg tie would is present and pliable. Sound knife displaying honest use and wear. From the estate of a USMC Officer who served in Vietnam 1966-67 as an NCO.
