US WW1First Division Gallantry Certificate, Wounded July 19, 1918

Item #68352 : Original period manufacture. Issued January 1 1920, recognizing Corporal William J. Pridemore, Co. A, 28th Infantry Rgt, who was wounded in action, July 19 1918 near Soissons France. He was recognized as displaying gallantry in action and especially meritorious service. This recognition likely would have allowed him to wear a small silver star on the ribbon of his Victory Medal. After 1932 these individuals so recognized would have been presented the Silver Star Medal and in his case the Purple Heart. Good research project. Document measures 8.5 x 10 inches.
