Original era manufacture. A complete British made steel helmet with liner and chinstrap. Split brads holding the chinstrap loops in place rather than the rivets seen on US made helmets. The center portion of the leather chinstrap was split down its length by the soldier so to fit more comfortably over his chin during wear. Hand painted Big Red One emblem on the front of the helmet. Postwar added varnish finish to the exterior which has darkened it up some. Honest old helmet with an interesting soldier modification to the chinstrap for comfort.
