Original era manufacture. A nice identified lot from an old Pennsylvania collection, is the British made, US M1917 steel helmet, gasmask, 1st aid pouch with an opened Carlisle bandage. The helmet is quite clean, complete with its original liner and chin strap, with a wonderful hand applied 79th Division emblem on its front.Original gasmask with carrier, the maintenance card has an issue date of October 17 1918, and marked to the 79th Division. The exterior of the carrier has the soldiers name and service number, along with a hand drawn 79th Division emblem. The gasmask itself is fairly intact, the flutter valve is of course longgone, and the face mask has stiffened from age.1917 dated bandage pouch, with an opened, brass cased Carlisle bandage. This was found stuffed inside the gasmask case at the time of our purchase.Accompanying the lot, are several sheets of research, giving details of the soldiers service during WWI, with company B, 304th Ammunition Train. During WWI the 79th Division served in the Meuse-Argonne offensive, and suffered the loss of nearly 7,000 casualties.
