Original period manufacture. Gold wire embroidered acorn, now toned to a dark silver patina, directly embroidered onto a green wool disc. Measures 2.5 inches in width, removed from a uniform. During WWI, the 87th was comprised of troops from Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi. It sailed for France in September 1918 but never saw combat.
