US WWI Army Air Service Propeller Sewing Box

Original era manufacture. A very well made sewing box made from the center hub of a WWI era Army Air Service aircraft propeller. The box measures 11x8x5.5 inches, which includes the removable fitted top. On one end of the box is an oval shaped, open area covered with glass or plexiglas, perhaps to mount a photo in.  The interior of the compartment is lined with a dark purple velvet, with a velvet covered pincushion mounted to the top. Hand painted Air Service Wings &  U.S.A on the front and top, with the intitials B.J.D. on the lid. Very sound condition.
