Original era manufacture. Standard WWI enlisted coat, with a very nice Motor Transport SSI on the left shoulder, discharge stripe, and three gold brocade overseas stripes. On the right sleeve is a very nice example of a Sergeant 1st Class chevron, with a thickly embroidered, two color MTC emblem below the chevrons. US and MTC collar discs, all buttons are present and accounted for, no moth issues to speak of. Makers tag in the front chest pocket, size about a 38 regular. Quick comment on the Sgt 1st Class chevron. Shown on page 267, table 6-12, catalog 362, US Army Soldiers and their Chevrons by Colonel Emerson, he identifies this as an unauthorized rate, with the illustration showing a curved bottom rocker. Our example is a horizontal rocker as shown. My take is that this was likely the soldier's discharge coat, and he spiffed himself up for the occasion, the difference between a curved and a straight rocker was likely not too high on the list of his concerns.
