Original period manufacture. A wonderful ephemera archive and uniform grouping, of a soldier who served in the capacity of a senior NCO, overseeing German POW's during WWI. The grouping includes his private purchase, officers quality uniform with matching breeches & waistbelt, campaign hat with infantry cord, and original ribbons above the left upper pocket. Minimal wear throughout, a few buttons need to be resewn, but are present, strong colors with original sewn insignia. The paper side of the grouping is quite extensive, and was preserved with great care. Some of the highlights are the three ink pens used to sign the discharge orders of the last German POW's held in the American camp, numerous letters with envelopes addressed to a sweetheart back home, his 1919 promotion certificate to Regimental Sergeant Major, numerous original US Signal Corps marked, black and white photos of his time in France, to include a Guard Tower, and German prisoners. Really too much to describe in detail, but simply stated a very large box full. Excellent, excellent research potential here.
