Original era manufacture. This is an excellent example of an early US Army Air Service sweetheart, or Son-In-Service pin. It measures 42 mm in width, with a gilt finish to the wings, separately applied letters, U.S. and an enameled flag below, soldered to the underside of the shield. Pinback reverse, which has a patent date of Nov.6 1917. No damage.
