Original era manufacture. A British made steel helmet using split brads instead of rivets to secure the chinstrap loops. Thick combat paint on the helmets exterior with a hand painted 78th Division emblem on the left side of the shell. The helmets liner is complete as is the chinstrap, however the strap has broken on one side. During WWI the 78th Divisionsaw combat during the Meuse-Argonne, St.Mihiel and Lorainne offensives and suffered over 7,000 casualties. A sound old helmet showing honest service wear and use.
