Original era manufacture. This is an interesting sword purchased from an old Arizona collection several years back; just now getting around to listing it.Basically we have a standard US M1840 Musicians sword, with a 31 inch polished steel blade running straight and true. Whatever markings once adorned the ricasso have been removed, and a presentation, or identifier, has been engraved into the blood groove, SERGEANT G.H. BARTON 1915.The brass grip has been plated, as have the scabbard throat and chape on the black painted, metalscabbard.Overall the modification was first rate, and the sword is very nicely finished. Good research project.
