Original period manufacture. Not too much information regarding the background of this canteen, but evidently the BOYCO firm was very much involved in the production of metal containers of all types. This is a military style oblate body canteen, flattened on the reverse. Tan canvas cover with a matching material sling. Black ink stenciled GOVERNMENT in a semi-circle around a star design. Normal wear and age. Some suggest perhaps Forestry service.
