Original period manufacture. Heavy brass casing, marked U.S. Engineer Corps on the top, Gruchon & Emons Berne on the reverse, serial number 69480.The compass works as it should, the lock mechanism on the side operates properly and the dial still points North.The brass casing displays wear and use, with the bottom exhibiting a very dark patina finish.
