Original era manufacture. Chrome finished, 29.5 inch blade with etching on each side of the blade. Etched in the obverse panel is the name, Frank W. Sherwood, and on the reverse, Illinois. The blade is clean, few minor nicks in the edge, with a very slight bend to the right. Chrome finished alloy guard and pommel, with a dark horn grip. The quillon is bent downwards but could be straightened if desired. Clean nickel finished alloy scabbard with two suspension rings and intact throat guide. Dent on the right side about 8 inches up from the drag. Good research project. Doing a quick glance on Ancestry, I found a Captain Frank W. Sherwood, serving in the 7th (Illinois) infantry, with a date of rank to 1907.
